Blair B. Matyszczyk (ma-tish-chick) joined Dickerson Oxton in October 2024. Blair brings more than a decade of experience in litigating and managing complex mass tort cases, but her experience in mass torts dates back to her teenage years. Blair is from the Kansas City area and attended Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kansas.
As a high school student, Blair worked for her father’s law firm, assisting in medical record review for clients who suffered injuries associated with the pharmaceutical drugs, Fen Phen and Vioxx.
After graduating from high school, Blair attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where she was a member of the women’s tennis team and graduated with bachelor’s degree in political science and an associate degree in business administration.
After graduating from DePaul, Blair had the pleasure of working for one of the largest and well-known defense law firms in the world, assisting in the firm’s pharmaceutical and medical device department. Blair’s invaluable experience at this firm helped shape her practice today and was the main reason she decided to move back to Kansas City to attend law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Over the past decade, Blair has worked on numerous mass tort litigations as well as single-event medical malpractice cases. In addition to handling discovery and pretrial matters for plaintiffs in mass tort litigations, Blair has extensive experience assisting in common benefit work for law firms appointed to leadership positions in numerous federal multi-state litigations (MDLs) and state consolidated litigations. Blair also has played in integral role in the negotiation and administration of settlements for her clients.
Blair has represented injured plaintiffs involved in the following multi-district and state court consolidated litigations:
